John 00 Fleming InterviewWe interview John 00 Fleming and find out where he’s been and what he’s been doing in the 3 years since his last time at Gatecrasher. You've been away from Gatecrasher for more than 3 years - what've you been up to? I've been out the country most of the time. Things have taken off for me in the USA. I've held a residency in New York for the past year and things evolved from that. How have you changed since then? I'm still the same old DJ!! Everyone knows that i love my underground trance music. The punters in the USA have allowed me to express myself musically in a way i could never do in the UK. I'm now finding that people in the UK have got tired of the same old formatted euphoric predictable trance sound that took over the UK the past couple of years, so i'm finding myself being swamped with UK bookings. What can the GC massive expect from you on May 30th? To hear some quality trance music!! Are you looking forward to your come-back? Oh yes. I've had some ammmmaaazziiinnnggg nights at crasher. I'm really excited about this, i can't wait :) Tell us something about yourself that nobody knows? I'm an avid boatman. I have my part 2 license and can handle boats up to 30 foot. I have a power cruiser and love my min trips to France, Jersey!! It's my escape from the rat-race of life. I love the sea! Tell us a bit about Above & Beyond? Above & beyond is a collective of Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamaki. We have been producing and DJ-ing together for over 4 years, and also A&R our record label, Anjunabeats. We've also produced under other names including Oceanlab (with vocalist Justine Suissa) and Tranquillity Base, and more... As remixers we've had the pleasure of giving both Madonna & Britney Spears the Above & Beyond stamp. Madonna liked the above & beyond remix of "What it feels like for a girl" so much that she chose it over the original for the video! The Britney remix is only available in the US right now. Got any new tunes in the pipeline? We've just finished a new mix of Above & Beyond "No one on earth", and have also finished the next Above & Beyond pres. “Tranquillity Base” tune. Tranquillity Base is our instrumental project. We've also written another Above & Beyond single and are putting the finishing touches to that. How would you describe your DJing style & what have you got in store for us on May 30th? Although we originally pioneered an uplifting trance sound, we play more eclectic sets when DJing right from progressive through to quality trance. Giving the crowd a good time and at the same time pushing the sound forward is our aim. Describe your dream gig? A beach party somewhere hot!
